ACDC Lighting Systems are designers and manufacturers of specialist cold cathode and LED lighting systems. Cold Cathode is the preferred solution for the illumination of coffered ceilings and recesses, while their LED products are based around the latest in LED technology, designed to create lighting effects never previously conceivable. The ACDC LED product portfolio includes shallow ceiling recessed downlights, powerful yet minimalist decorative fittings, in ground wall wash fittings, and compact spot lights, all for use in interior and exterior applications and now offering efficacies of 81 lumens per watt. The innovation does not stop however with the luminaires themselves, a whole range of driver solutions are now available including 0-10V, Mains and DMX dimmable options.

We’ve had a very busy couple of weeks here at ACDC - not just with the superb new LED and Cold Cathode orders that continue to come in, but also picking up two of the region’s most prestigious and widely coveted business awards.

A few days ago we were awarded the Lancashire Telegraph Business of the Year accolade – the top award in the region’s business calendar – at a glittering ceremony where companies from large businesses to start ups and manufacturers to retailers were rewarded for excellence and innovation. It is just 12 months since we scooped the export award and since then we have boosted sales even further, putting us in a position where we were able to compete against the biggest and best in the area. From more than 120 entries, ACDC went on to beat off competition from 33 nominees to pick up the highly prized award, which now takes pride of place in our ever expanding trophy cabinet.

But the celebrations don’t end there, as it is less than three weeks since our successful evening at the 2010 East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce’s Presidents Awards, where once again it was smiles all round as we scooped a prestigious award at the event, which celebrated Lancashire’s finest businesses. Winning the International Trade Award, ACDC demonstrated that we have developed a strong global business exporting to 40 countries and winning major contracts with high profile customers in an extremely competitive market. The judges commended us on our ever-growing turnover, a large percentage of which is generated through our export business.

Our CEO, Gareth Frankland said: “Highlights of the past year include expansion into markets in Russia, Morocco, Germany and Eastern Europe and winning both these awards is another brilliant highlight - we are obviously delighted! We are not the biggest company in the area but we are number one in what we do – something that has been recognised with the winning of these major business awards.”
