Mitre 10 Mega Papanui
OVERVIEW
Mitre 10 Mega Papanui completed a full retail-floor lighting retrofit at its Christchurch store. Working alongside Eleccom Design Limited and Envision Eighty20, we supplied TRILUX E-Line Next luminaires to replace the existing fluorescent high-bay lighting and support a new approach focused on vertical illumination and product visibility.

THE BRIEF
The existing installation consisted of 4 x 54W T5 fluorescent high-bay fittings that had reached the point where replacement was being considered. The project team was looking for a solution that could improve the visibility of merchandise throughout the store while delivering stronger vertical light levels across shelving displays.
Previous experience from the Mega Mitre 10 Brougham Street project demonstrated the effectiveness of the continuous linear lighting approach and helped establish the performance objectives for the Papanui store.
THE APPROACH
TRILUX E-Line Next was selected for the entire retail floor. The system offered a range of optical distributions suited to the varying requirements of the sales environment while remaining aligned with the project's budget expectations.
Suspended 2.2-metre luminaires with a very wide beam distribution were installed in the primary circulation aisle, while double asymmetric optics were used throughout the retail aisles to maximise illumination on shelving and merchandise displays. The entire installation was supplied with DALI dimming capability.
Our role on the project was limited to product supply, working with the wider consultant and project team to provide the specified luminaires.
RESULTS
The completed lighting scheme delivers vertical illuminance levels ranging from approximately 700 lux to 1000 lux across store shelving. The upgraded environment has improved product visibility while creating a more consistent and evenly lit retail experience.
Feedback from both the project management team and store staff has been positive, with the completed installation building on the success of previous Mega Mitre 10 projects that have adopted the same lighting approach.
