OVERVIEW
Mitre 10 Mega Prestons is a new large-format hardware retail store developed by Ferrymead Properties Ltd that opened in early 2026. MHL worked alongside Tuatara Structures, PBI Electrical, and Telfers to deliver a high-performance retail lighting solution using TRILUX E-Line Next throughout the store aisles.
While the project required the performance and reliability expected of a modern Mitre 10 Mega store, it also adopted a more considered and progressive approach to installation, making it an interesting and slightly different project.

PROJECT BRIEF
The brief was to deliver a state-of-the-art lighting solution suited to a modern Mitre 10 Mega environment. Importantly, the lighting solution needed to meet the visual demands of a large hardware retail space while remaining efficient, robust, and future-ready.
LIGHTING SOLUTION
TRILUX E-Line Next was installed throughout the retail aisles to deliver consistent, high-quality illumination at scale. Designed for demanding commercial environments, the system provides excellent uniformity and light output, making it well suited to large-format retail where clarity and visibility are critical.
DESIGNED FOR PERFORMANCE. AND A CLEAN CEILING
While linear lighting is most often seen in supermarket environments, Mitre 10 Mega Prestons shows how effective this approach can be in large-format hardware retail when it is planned properly.
From the outset, the project benefited from early coordination and forward planning by PBI Electrical. All cabling was run through the slab, removing the need for exposed cable trays and resulting in a clean, uncluttered ceiling that supports the overall look and feel of the space.
The TRILUX E-Line Next system was well suited to this approach. Its modular, plug-and-play design supported a straightforward installation process while delivering strong, even light levels across the retail aisles.

TRILUX E-Line Next is a high-output, long-lifetime lighting system designed with modularity and upgradability in mind. This reduces waste over the life of the installation and supports long-term efficiency, helping ensure the lighting solution remains adaptable as store requirements change.
OUTCOME
The project was delivered smoothly, with strong collaboration across the build team. Both the installer and the project owner were highly satisfied with the final outcome, which balances performance, aesthetics, and long-term flexibility.
